Brown sugar and spice and everything nice – that’s what this cake is made of! You can serve this iced or uniced.

Brown Sugar Spice Cake
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and spices.
- In mixer bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Beat in eggs.
- Remove beaters. Fold in the flour mixture in thirds, alternately with milk and vanilla, until smoothly blended. Don't overstir.
- Spread batter in a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until top of cake springs back when touched lightly. Cool.
